Esplanade - Theatres on the Bay will present the Berliner Philharmoniker under the direction of prominent English Music Director Sir Simon Rattle for two evenings on 23 and 24 November 2010 at the Esplanade Concert Hall under its Classics series. The Berliner Philharmoniker will also be conducting two orchestral rehearsals on 22 and 23 November 2010 where they will perform Mahler’s 1st Symphony and Rachmaninov Symphonic Dances.
Esplanade and the Berliner Philharmoniker would like to invite students from secondary schools, junior colleges, arts and tertiary institutions to observe the orchestral rehearsals. Students attending should be full-time music students, students in music elective programme, members of music-related CCAs or students who have experience in both performing and attending classical music concerts.
These exclusive rehearsals provide a rare opportunity for students to observe these renowned musicians who will be performing in Singapore for the first time. The students will also have a chance to be a part of the historical 3D recording, which is the first of its kind for any orchestra in the world. The recordings at Esplanade will also be broadcasted in 3D across television stations from the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan and released in theatres in over ten countries and 500 cinemas in the world.
The tickets can be as high as $600. But now students are invited to attend without any charges. You just need to wear dark colours and follow their rules...There are 12 places available for CO students. However, I can try to ask for more. Our school's music students will b going and also 28 of our Band members. It is a very rare opportunity...
Please reply to me whether you are going, thanks! (btw, the dates are 22nd and 23rd nov)
